There is no doubt that these are some of the most venomous snakes not only in Edisto Island but also in all over the world. I am a big fan of copperhead snakes and I am glad to find some good information on this post. I would also like to share a link for those who want to know more about copperhead snakes should visit venomoussnakes.net/copperhead.htm

There wasn't much but broccoli was grown here before as well as cauliflower. We served it in 1988 and was grown by one of my staff members.

The Stieger film was Animals listed above. Has anyone ever seen this? I have tried to get a copy for years. Would love to borrow or beg for. Stieger and I got to be friends and we became friends with the crew. NONE could get the movie later.

Do either of these ladies have a web site or could my email be given to either of them. I live in Florida but am from Charleston originally and am interested in giving some of their pieces to friends for Christmas. Please respond. Thank you so much.

The second story took place at Brick House Plantation, which has been in our family (Jenkins) for close to 2 centuries. The woman's name was Amelia and the incident supposedly happened on August 13. We had great fun growing up re-enacting the story with some of my older cousins playing the Amelia part and of course scaring the daylights out of any unsuspecting guest! The outer brick walls of Brick House still stand as does the Live Oak in which the jilted lover killed himself. There was a place on the wall that we were told was the "bloody handprint" and as gullible kids we believed it for years! An alternative version is that the person who killed Amelia was a local Indian who fell in love with her but could never have her because of the then cultural taboos, so he denied anyone else from ever having her as well!

The story is recorded in TALES OF EDISTO, a great book on most of the ghost stories of the island.

Actually the last story supposedly took place at Brick house and he was supposedly buried under the tree.Brick house ruins is located across the road from our place which was known at one time as Tom Seabrook plantation which was just one site of a civil war skirmish..As you might guess a good deal of the main island families I am related to. My maternal grandmother Mary Laroache Bailey was born on wadmalaw but grew up on Tom Seabrook plantation.

Myself, my dad who is 87, my sister and my niece went this past September. It was an awesome experience and we will definitely do it again. Joey is an exceptional guide and person and you will truly benefit from this excursion. The cost is more than reasonable for this trip.
